Measured is a set of nesting spoons, hand-carved from Walnut, linked together by a wall mounted shackle. They are, ostensibly, functional tools, rendered useless by their mounting technique. The walnut is shaped using a carving gouge and a small knife, with the tool marks left on the surface. They are faceted and lumpy, but generally smooth to the touch. This simple act of rendering a functional object useless and reframing it as a decorative object is endlessly gratifying to me. The shackle acting as a frame or reliquary, for the newly useless object.
