Collection: Conduit | Myra Mimlitsch-Gray

On view from September 21st through November 10th, 2024, Conduit includes works—from forged and fabricated vessels to enameled studies of structure and texture— which span the breadth of Myra Mimlitsch-Gray's illustrious career. 

Myra Mimlitsch-Gray explores facture, conceptualizing material conditions to construct fictions. She navigates craft as subject and object throughout her studio practice, engaging the field’s history and methods to interpret utility and form. Her studio practice is at times speculative, theoretical, and in conversation with pedagogical concerns.

A visionary within her field, the technical methods Mimlitsch-Gray utilizes are both deliberate and open-ended, resulting in a range of outcomes that share certain through-lines which are visible throughout the exhibition. Tension builds between familiar surface and unconventional form. The organic process is tempered by an analytical slice. Conduit presents these  interconnections across several series of works and the ideas conveyed by their juxtaposition.
